The course focuses on integrating bioinformatics resources with basic biology and clinical applications to enhance population health research. Includes methods for the analysis of high-throughput next-generation sequence data and an introduction to the use of bioinformatics databases in precision medicine and population health. Covers common programs and algorithms for sequence alignment, evolutionary tree construction, database searching, functional interpretation of expressed genes, and identifying genetic mutations for human disease.
