Description

This elective rotation will allow the student to acquire experience in the evaluation, education and management of ambulatory patients with diabetes, dyslypidemia, hypertension, obesity and other metabolic and endocrine problems. The student will participate in diabetes, obesity, endocrine and lipid clinics at different settings including UMMC at the Jackson Medical Mall, Pavilion and VA Medical Center. The student will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary setting for management of diabetes as a model of care for other chronic diseases. Two lectures per week will be presented by the staff and the students will attend the endocrine and metabolic conferences. The student will present an interesting case or a short review at the end of the rotation. (1 student each month. Available all months)
