Degradation Mechanisms in Materials

The various mechanisms of environmentally induced material degradation (e.g., oxidation and hydrolysis) for the three major classes of materials (metals, polymers, ceramics). The course will focus on the unique aspects of the biological environment which can alter conventional degradation mechanisms.
