Medical Sociology

This course will examine how socio-cultural and demographic factors influence utilization of health care resources. Specifically, this course will deal with ethical issues surrounding access and care; barriers to quality care; and variations in definitions of what it means to be ill and healthy (e.g., epidemic of health). This will include multi-cultural issues associated with access to quality care. in addition to the above, this course will explore various sociological theories and methodologies used in the analysis of health care data.
