Description
The course focuses on the mechanisms of synaptic transmission in autonomic ganglia and at peripheral neuroeffector junctions. Emphasis is placed on the pre-and post-synaptic processes regulating neurotransmitter at these peripheral synapses. The roles of synaptic proteins, and classical and non-classical transmitters are explored in detail. As time permits, clinical examples of the effects of failures in peripheral synaptic transmission are presented.
