Nuclear Medicine Foundations

An introduction to nuclear medicine technology emphasizing patient care; principles of nuclear radiation and safety; instrumentation and quality control; and medical law and ethics specific to NMT. Nuclear medicine mathematic applications for radionuclide activity, volume, concentration, decay, and unit conversion formulas are introduced. Techniques and procedures for proper venipuncture in nuclear medicine procedures are presented in the laboratory setting. Medical terminology is presented and includes a study of word origins, structures, abbreviations, and symbols.
