Overview
Description
This course is a didactic lecture course with an associated laboratory. Lectures focus on the problems associated with dental caries and their sequelae in the child patient as well as present material needed to diagnose and treat the child patient. Additionally, this course is designed to introduce students to the management of behavior in the pediatric dental patient. Skills in communication and behavior shaping are stressed. Techniques are discussed to educate the student in how best to manage normal behavior, uncooperative behavior, disruptive behavior and the behaviors that may be unique to children with special health care needs.
