Psychiatry Externship-VA Med Ctr

The senior student spends four weeks in an inpatient setting at the Veteran?s Administration Medical Center. The elective will expose the student to differential diagnosis formulation and to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of psychiatric illness. The attending faculty will closely supervise the student and expect the student to participate in daily rounds and multidisciplinary treatment team meeting. Under the supervision of faculty, the student will perform initial patient evaluations and treatment planning. (2 students each month. Available all months.)
