UH/Lexington Rural Family Medicine

This Delta AHEC affiliated rotation provides a broad-based, hands-on patient care experience in Lexington, Mississippi at the 84 bed University Hospital, a recent addition to the UMMC University Hospital/Clinics system. The student will spend four weeks as part of a rural hospital-based health care delivery team. Students will provide supervised medical care to patients and perform appropriate diagnostic and procedural therapies under the supervision of attending hospital staff. Students will gain experience evaluating patients, providing trauma and emergency care, general surgery and outpatient procedures, and low risk deliveries. (3 students each month.
