Pulmonary Diseases/Critical Care Med

Students are assigned to the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine services at UMMC. At the University Hospital, the student will actively participate in the work-up and care of patients whose illnesses range from various respiratory diseases to the critically ill. Formal teaching rounds are held daily. Conferences and didactic lectures are held three times weekly. Students are introduced to pulmonary function testing, fiber optic bronchoscopy, hemodynamic monitoring, including invasive monitoring.
